Metamorphosis

A collection of artworks inspired by the animal poetry of Ted Hughes.

 

Edward James Hughes OM OBE FRSL was born on 17 August 1930. He was an English poet, translator, and children's writer. Critics frequently rank him as one of the best poets of his generation and one of the twentieth century's greatest writers.

 

He was appointed Poet Laureate in 1984 and held the office until his death in October 1998.

 

Hughes was married to American poet Sylvia Plath from 1956 until her death by suicide in 1963 at the age of 30. Hughes last poetic work, Birthday Letters, explored their relationship.
